Kraft Heinz UK Manufacturing Project - Case Study

In 2020, Pod delivered a multi-hire manufacturing project for Kraft Heinz at their largest food manufacturing site globally, in Kitt Green. The project lasted for 3 months and we supported on 25 roles. Here’s how we delivered the project:

BACKGROUND

Kraft Heinz were restructuring their leadership team in their manufacturing site, creating over 30 new vacancies for shift leadership across manufacturing and engineering management. Kraft Heinz often struggled to recruit in the Kitt Green area, and their talent team didn’t have the capacity to manage the recruitment for these vacancies themselves, so Pod partnered with them to deliver the project.

OUR APPROACH

Pod have been a partner to Kraft Heinz for over 10 years across the UK and Europe, so understood their requirements and cultural fit well. Pod managed the end-to-end recruitment project, managing direct applicants, internal referrals as well as candidates sourced by our team. We also acted as an extension of Kraft Heinz’s talent team; managing candidate testing, assessment centres, diaries, feedback cycles and the end-to-end candidate experience.

DELIVERY

To make the project a success, we:

  • Created candidate attraction documents, including interviews with site leadership to create a specific employer branding proposition for these roles and the Kitt Green site, which you can view and download HERE
  • Managed both internal and external applicants across our network and Kraft Heinz’s own advertising
  • Created a wide referral scheme, including from Kraft Heinz employees in the UK
  • Utilised Pod’s delivery network with a broad headhunt approach
  • Managed the candidate experience by ensuring all candidates from application stage received a reply and that candidates received prompt feedback throughout the recruitment process
  • Performed the first stage interview on behalf of Kraft Heinz by creating an interview process that screened candidates for both technical and cultural fit
  • Administered verbal, numerical and logical reasoning tests to all candidates
  • Spent time in Kitt Green with the Kraft Heinz team to take briefings, manage diaries and co-ordinate assessment centres so that we were set up to manage the whole process
  • Set up weekly updates and reporting with site HR and hiring managers which allowed us to provide a shared document that was accessible at all times, with live information on progress and performance, which was discussed in weekly meetings
  • Took total ownership of offer management, ensuring candidates received offer letters and contracts on time, and co-ordinated start dates with hiring manages against specific timescales due to the volume of people starting

THE RESULT

  • Pod placed all 25 roles within a 4 month period
  • Only one offer was rejected throughout the whole project, and 100% of candidates placed were still in their roles 12 months later
  • We operated at a conversion rate of just under 3 first interviews per placement
  • We received excellent feedback from both Kraft Heinz stakeholders and a 100% positive feedback response from candidates who were involved in the project
