McBride – Case Study

Background

  • McBride were on a transformation journey, reviewing the entire business enterprise. A key area of this was the development of the customer logistics function to become more customer-centric and enhance their offering to clients, enabling revenue growth.
  • They had a strong HR team but were seeking a specialist in logistics and supply chain. Pod was recommended to the CEO and CHRO.
  • They aimed to build a multilingual customer logistics team across Europe. Additionally, there were several key projects, including TMS, tenders, and logistics optimisation projects, for which they needed interim support.

Our approach

  • Working with senior HR and the C-suite, we engaged in conversations about the challenges this person would need to solve, the impact on the overall business strategy, and how this role could potentially evolve.
  • We collaborated closely to develop the job description, requirements, and leadership skills necessary for the role's success.
  • McBride were on an incredible journey with a vision to drive significant benefits for their customers but weren’t well known in the market, which made it difficult to attract the best talent. We created a compelling story around the business, their goals, and their culture to engage with candidates.

Delivery

  • We became an integrated part of their business, getting to know all the relevant stakeholders, understanding the true pain points, and what they were aiming to solve.
  • We set up weekly meetings, sharing detailed market insights to demonstrate the market dynamics at play so these could be communicated upwards and across the business.
  • We worked closely with line managers to determine the real needs for each role, considering personality, functional experience, team dynamics, and company fit.
  • We handled all sourcing and selection, including headhunting, advertising, and referrals, and created a cover sheet outlining the reasons for fit.

The Result

  • 100% fill rate on 7 roles
  • A number of the roles were filled within 2-3 weeks, with 2 having shortlists within 48 hours
  • The new team enabled the vision for a more customer-centric supply chain and logistics function. They rationalised logistics networking, driving multi-million pounds in savings, and delivered substantial improvement in OTIF across the group, whilst also managing an increase in volume.
  • The team created a high-performing group that enabled optimisation, significant cost savings, and service improvements. In addition, the share price of the business has now increased by 4 times
