Transport Planner- Derby (hybrid)- Up to £35,000

This role sits within a high-performing transport team responsible for delivering a complex B2C home delivery network. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and optimising final-mile and linehaul operations, ensuring deliveries are executed efficiently, cost-effectively and on time. This is a hands-on planning role for someone who enjoys analysing transport data, challenging existing plans and proactively identifying opportunities to improve network performance.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and optimise daily B2C home delivery routes to maximise vehicle utilisation and delivery efficiency
- Review and challenge system-generated plans, identifying opportunities to improve drop density and reduce transport costs
- Create and manage outbound linehaul and regional distribution plans to support final-mile operations
- Work closely with carrier partners, hauliers and internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues and improve performance
- Monitor transport performance data and identify continuous improvement opportunities across the network
- Coordinate inbound and outbound transport requirements with Supply Chain and Production teams
- Support operational execution through regular engagement with distribution and transport operations
What we are looking for:
- Experience in transport planning within a B2C, home delivery, retail or final-mile environment
- Proven ability to improve route efficiency, vehicle utilisation and transport cost performance
- Strong understanding of transport planning systems, transport data analysis and network optimisation
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working alongside carriers, drivers and operational teams
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement
