Engineer: Automotive Battery Systems – Dusseldorf

The future of the automotive sector lies in electric vehicles and I’m working with one of the largest suppliers of automotive battery components in the world. They are seeking an assured, senior engineer, from an automotive background, to join their brand new e-mobility team.

You will spearhead efforts to develop the batteries of the future, designing product and technology roadmaps for new battery systems for the largest automotive brands. Building battery packs to be used in new vehicles, you’ll have strong knowledge across electrical systems, cooling, cell assembly, materials & mechanical specifications. Interacting with this businesses global customer base, you’ll support their e-mobility plans from battery cell, to pack design.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work with internal experts and external partners on assembly/disassembly process for new battery systems for launch into the automotive sector

  • Design product and technology roadmaps & prepare product specifications for the assembly and protection of batteries.

  • Provide expertise on battery engineering across this €multi-billion business

Skills & Attributes Required:

  • MSc or PhD in an engineering or scientific discipline, e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or Physics

  • Expert level knowledge of battery systems, components and materials from an automotive or aerospace background.

  • Knowledge of trends and automotive industry developments surrounding battery technology.

  • Experience with design and simulation technology for battery cell/pack performance

  • Professional level proficiency in English (written & verbal) – German language skills are advantageous but by no means essential for this role
