​Position – Regional Procurement Director

Location – Mannheim, Germany

Salary – €120,000 – €130,000 / £ 102,000 - £111,000

Pod Talent are currently working with a Global OEM Organisation in Mannheim, Germany on a Regional Procurement Director position. With this position, you will be handling a spend of EUR450m across both Direct and Indirect spend categories, it will be working closely with key stakeholders in the regional, global, and corporate functions to lead and support the development and implementation of effective cost reduction strategies. This role will have a "seat at the table", giving you the opportunity to be part of the business executive leadership team helping the business make executive level business decisions alongside the critical procurement decisions. This role will report to the VP Global Supply Chain.

This is a leading OEM business and following a critical acquisition a few years ago, the business has doubled in size and is continuing its transformational expansion globally. This role would be a great opportunity to have a real impact on the procurement structure in the business with clear opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional leadership abilities to establish and implement supply chain strategies and drive value on the regional spend, aligning to global commodity strategies. Key spend includes Aluminium, Paint, Cap Ex, MRO, Contractor Services and Utilities, as well as, other spends may be identified.

  • Lead and develop a regional procurement team that provides sourcing, analytical and strategy support for the regional business unit.

  • Collaborate and support the VP of Global Supply Chain Management and other company leaders on key initiatives. Provide ongoing leadership for these initiatives.

  • Inject project management leadership which will include overseeing and ensuring quality delivery of assigned projects; collect, measure, report and communicate progress with key stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with other regional Directors of Procurement, to develop global commodity strategies to leverage global spend, benchmarking and implementing best practices.

  • Drive continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through negotiations and consolidation.

  • Measure and track internal performance within each spend category versus budget, and internal goals

  • Lead a team of 10+.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial & Systems Engineering preferred), Supply Chain, Business, Education or related discipline. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business preferred.

  • Essential operational CAPEX, Capital Expenditure, MRO, Investments category management experience

  • Minimum 7 years of leadership experience in Procurement, navigating and collaborating across a global organization.

  • Proven success as a critical thinker with excellent analytical skills, demonstrating initiative and planning experience.

  • Outstanding communicator with an ability to influence and gain alignment in a matrix organization.

  • Strategic Sourcing at a Tier 1

  • CPM, or CPSM certification

  • Bi-Lingual (German and English)

  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

  • Ability to build and maintain strong interpersonal relationships and work collaboratively with senior leaders as well as the shop floor throughout the Company.

  • Solid team building skills.

  • Ability to influence others without direct authority.
