Technical Packaging Project Manager: Printing & Coating – REMOTE – €65,000-€80,000 + bonus

I’m pleased to partner with a global leader in the packaging sector as they continue to expand their R&D function by recruiting a strong project manager for technical packaging development. This role sits within their pan-European R&D function and will be responsible for the development of sustainable and cost effective barriers for both food and non-food packaging.

The position will be the third hire in a new team – the focus of which is material development targeted on plastic reduction and environmental sustainability – so this is a perfect opportunity for a technical packaging professional who is both passionate about sustainability and has experience running trials and projects with internal and external stakeholders.

This is a remote role so you can be based from home for the majority of the time, with some travel expected either for team meetings or to conduct trials or visit external partners (c.3 times per month on average). Given it’s a new team, the development pathway for this role is open. You could move into team leadership or remain a technical expert/internal consultant should you prefer.

Technical Packaging Project Manager: Printing & Coating, role responsibilities:

  • Lead projects & trials for materials development to be deployed as coatings/sealants for food and non-food packaging to reduce the use of plastic across the business

  • Play a key role in driving the sustainability agenda of this £multibillion business, working with the broader R&D community and other commercial functions to bring innovative solutions to market

  • Co-ordinate project frameworks and align requirements across a pan-European remit

  • Identify market trends to drive growth across sustainable packaging, exploring new technologies, materials and external partners to ensure the business continues to offer innovative new solutions to the market place.

Key skills & experience required:

  • Strong packaging background, with experience across materials and coatings. Exposure to printing and recycling would be preferred but not essential.

  • Technical academic background within chemistry or engineering preferred

  • Strong communicator, confident dealing with teams/partners across Europe

  • Impressive project management background

It’s not often huge, established brands launch new teams with the scope for growth and development such as this. If you’re a technical packaging expert looking to move into a more project management focused role, or a role with a bigger onus on sustainability, get in touch to find out more. Apply using the link, or email your CV to Alex directly at alex@pod-talent.com today.

Please note: applicants must be based in Europe already to be considered for this position.
